![]() Why Tom's is working to protect our rivers. Since our very first product in 1970, a non-polluting
phosphate-free laundry detergent called Clearlake, Tom's of Maine has advocated for clean water.
Tom found himself in a bit of a pickle with Clearlake because
he'd advertised that Tom's would recycle or reuse the bottles if
consumers sent them back. So many people did that the post office
was overwhelmed with bottle returns! It was an early sign that
people were eager to get involved and help improve river conditions
(not to mention recycle). Why are rivers so important to our quality of life?
You really can make a difference. Every community has its river heroes—people whose commitment to improving water quality helps improve the quality of life in his or her town. A plentiful supply of clean water positively impacts community health, business and recreation opportunities, and overall quality of life. Perhaps you know one of those river heroes—perhaps you are one! If so, we encourage you to enter our “River Stories” Video Contest—and you could win a Toyota Prius Hybrid! We know people are out there making a positive difference, and we want to share their stories and inspire others to help too. Thousands are volunteering for rivers—why don't you join in and share your stories with us? |
